Tiny house FACHWERK 36 – brutalism meets romance
From the outside, the modular eco house of the FACHWERK 36 project looks almost weightless: the vertical posts recall a pergola for roses and vines, behind which the garden continues. The flat roof with sturdy timber beams that seem to float in the air keeps the illusion going.
This architecture, where German half-timbering meets the Japanese minka, answers today’s needs in full: a bathroom, a kitchen, a sleeping area, space for company and an open terrace facing the garden or the pool.
The FACHWERK 36 project – a well-judged architectural solution
The authors of the FACHWERK 36 project at the KOLEO construction company provided two entrances to the building:
- at the gable end, an entrance area with a large terrace under a canopy of timber beams;
- in the middle of the long side wall, an entrance door with a porch and a small canopy.
A wide hallway and a bathroom with a window separate the bedroom from the kitchen-living room. There is enough space for furniture, large appliances and storage. Wide doors join the living area with the terrace and the garden, so the closed-in feeling of a city flat never appears.
Depending on the shape of the plot and the building line, KOLEO engineers will mirror the layout.
FACHWERK 36 – a compact house of Carpathian timber for comfortable living
The KOLEO construction company sources and produces the material for the walls, beams, columns and posts of the FACHWERK 36 modular home itself. Carpathian timber goes through every stage of processing, from drying to fire treatment. The shade of the wood can be changed at the client’s wish. The final coating is based on linseed oil with natural pigments.
Advantages of the FACHWERK 36 modular home:
- autonomous heating, an energy-efficient façade and glazing, minimal heating costs;
- panoramic windows take up to 45 % of the façade – the rooms feel larger and lighting costs drop noticeably;
- modular homes are earthquake-resistant and withstand frost down to −40 °C;
- the vertical posts act as a large louvre in the style of Mediterranean villas – a timely answer to a warming climate.
The compact structure needs no heavy construction machinery and can be installed on ground of any complexity. The elements arrive on site with the utility systems already fitted (water supply, drainage, electricity, ventilation).
