Designed by the architects of KOLEO, the modular home BARN 45 looks at first glance like selfishness distilled – living alone, surrounded by your own garden or by wild forest. In truth even so selfish a design allows for compromise. Compare the two BARN 45 layouts.
BARN 45 with one and with two bedrooms
Both layouts share the same living area: a large 23 m² kitchen-living room, glazed on three sides, opening onto a terrace of a further 17 m². The owners of BARN 45 gain a flexible 40 m² space for rest and for making things. The high pitched roof typical of the barnhouse style adds air and light to the rooms.
In the one-bedroom layout the designers provided two entrances – from the terrace and from the side of the building. Which one is the main entrance and which the secondary depends on the shape of the plot and on local building lines. The bedroom with the large window doubles as a home office. The bathroom has a window for ventilation and daylight.
The two-bedroom layout keeps a single entrance from the terrace. The bathroom is sensibly placed opposite the way in from the living room and at the same time separates the two 9 m² bedrooms – enough for beds, wardrobes and televisions. Each bedroom has a wide floor-to-ceiling window that visually widens the room.
The advantages of the BARN 45 modular home
Modular eco houses are among the buildings with high energy efficiency and save up to 25–30 % of heating costs. BARN 45 is easy to place on any type of ground within a few weeks. The house is inexpensive yet sturdy, withstands frost down to −40 °C and is earthquake-resistant.
Turnkey construction of the BARN 45 modular home
The construction company KOLEO covers the full scope of work, from design to building the modular home. For BARN 45 we use timber structures from the Carpathian forests, made in our own production. The modules are built together with the services (power, water, independent heating) in the KOLEO works; on site the module is assembled quickly.
We will assess the plot and the available connections, adapt the design to what you need, develop the services and select energy-saving glazing.
