Glulam Alpine-style cottage - «Chalet 226»
A synergy of nature, comfort and privacy
An impressive two-storey villa with panoramic glazing, a covered porch and a spacious terrace-solarium in Chalet style is built on-site in just a few months by the KOLEO manufacturing and construction company. The «Chalet 226» glulam cottage project embodies the most forward-looking architectural trends: zoning of space, a fusion of personal comfort with the boundlessness of the surrounding world, minimal energy costs for maintaining the home, and eco-friendliness.
«Chalet 226» eco house - conceptual features of the project
An Alpine-style cottage with large windows and portal doors for natural lighting of the rooms, stairs, bathrooms, boiler room and internal transit zones. A sturdy gable roof with wide eaves shields the walls and perimeter of the building from rain and snow. Heating is standalone, and the thickness of the glulam requires no external insulation or decorative cladding.
The designers took into account the technological particularities of glulam construction, load limits for floor slabs, thermal conductivity and safety.
«Chalet 226» house project - a variety of layout solutions
The architecture studio of KOLEO has developed several sketches of the interior layout of the two-storey eco house «Chalet» 226. All sketches include:
- zoning of the space into shared and private zones;
- standalone bedrooms;
- a kitchen-living room joined to the terrace by two wide doors;
- a bathroom on each floor, and a dedicated room for the boiler.
The number of bedrooms in the Chalet 226 project ranges from 2 to 5, adjustable to the client’s needs. The 13 m² room on the ground floor is multifunctional: a parents’ bedroom, a guest bedroom, a study, or a home office.
The size, shape and orientation of the plot determine the placement of the entrance area with its porch:
- on the facade side, with a straight path into the kitchen-living room and on to the terrace facing the private garden;
- on the side of the building.
Second-floor variants for Chalet 226:
- a master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and bathroom + two bedrooms + a hallway + a bathroom + an enclosed double-height space overlooking the kitchen-living room;
- a master bedroom with a 30 m² walk-in wardrobe + two bedrooms + two bathrooms + a sauna;
- a 31 m² playroom + a master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and bathroom + a bedroom + a bathroom;
- four bedrooms of 13 m² each with an 18 m² transit hall + a bathroom.
The double-height kitchen-living room is an elegant solution for a glulam villa – the main reception room is filled with light and air.
Chalet 226 - built turnkey in just a few months from our own glulam (for building sites in Ukraine)
KOLEO manufactures glulam, profiled timber, machine-round logs from ecologically sourced high-mountain Carpathian forest. The product is certified, with no toxic traces. After a site analysis and approval of the layout, the architectural and structural part of the «Chalet 226» project is complemented by the engineering section, with a detailed description of the specifications for glazed structures, the foundation, the roof, and the utilities (heating, water, electricity, telecommunications).
We build comprehensively – from site preparation and the foundation through to the roof and interior finishing – for building sites in Ukraine. For clients abroad, KOLEO supplies the glulam house kit for self-build or construction by a local contractor; get in touch for details. The colour of the facade, roof, beams, frames and terrace is agreed individually.
