An A-frame house appeals to admirers of bionics and to lovers of minimalism alike. It is not only bold young people who decide to build a turnkey A-frame house, but also mature people who do not need large houses yet want a cosy home. Such triangular buildings are often ordered by the owners of holiday parks and resorts as well.

The price of a turnkey A-shaped, triangular house appeals to thrifty people. Triangular A-frames are also chosen by those who value their time: the whole house goes up in a few weeks, and interior finishing can begin straight away, because the house does not settle. There is no need to fear that door and window openings will warp or that plaster or wallpaper will come away from the walls.

A-shaped or triangular houses have a number of key advantages: economy (facade costs are minimal) and structural strength (such a house can withstand enormous static and dynamic loads, wind and snow). These houses are ideal for guest houses and holiday parks; they do not darken the plot and cast almost no shadow.

An A-frame house is a fine blend of American architecture and Scandinavian timber-frame construction technology. The Scandinavian school of building proved long ago how well simple and, above all, ecological materials work together: board, mineral insulation, metal, glass.

The structure is designed with maximum energy efficiency in mind. A closed insulation system and low-emissivity glazing units will give you comfort — and minimal spending on it — in any weather.

All A-frame houses share one feature — a double-height living room. This is an enormous space overhead that pushes back the boundaries of the mind. An A-frame creates a unique creative atmosphere for the people who live in it.

A DEPENDABLE STRUCTURE AND FINE DETAILING

The A-frame timber frame is assembled from many timber components of different sizes. Each component reliably performs its own function within the frame. Together they form the frame that is the dependable skeleton of the house.

The basis of the building is a load-bearing timber frame treated with antiseptic, water-repellent and fire-retardant impregnations. The frame is designed to last for many decades, and only high-quality, safe materials are used in construction — so you can buy an A-frame house for comfortable living with the whole family, including small children.

The A-shaped structure is one of the easy-to-assemble kinds, and the A-frame also saves on building materials. But this is where the main drawback lies: for the same building footprint, a standard rectangular house has more usable floor area. Even so, many clients are willing to give up usable metres for the sake of an unconventional solution.

Turnkey A-frame construction includes a well-thought-out ventilation and cooling system: the roof does, after all, make up the greater part of the building, and in hot weather it can heat up, making the rooms stuffy. If the house stands in the open rather than under the cover of trees, ventilation saves you from exhausting heat. Winter and autumn use, on the other hand, poses no problems. Because of the shape of the structure, snow and water simply do not linger on the roof. For the house to be comfortable in cold weather, the roof must be reliably insulated. Energy-efficient glazing units help to avoid heat loss as well.

The price of a turnkey A-frame house is also low because the frame does not require a heavy foundation. A lightweight version is enough. At the same time the house is more stable, because the wide base protects the building from the effects of wind.
